Sometimes when I search for writing inspiration, suggested articles will appear as I am researching. This week I read an excerpt about spotted dolphins. Dolphins have always been one of my favorite creatures in nature. Seeing them gracefully swim in the ocean, watching them jump with excitement and observing them being playful are some features of dolphins that I admire.

The article focused on spotted dolphins. It said that spotted dolphins jump up out of the water due to suckerfish being on them. To rid themselves of the suckerfish, they jump to get away from the annoyance. As I was reading, I thought of aspects that bring discouragement…daily responsibilities, achieving goals in small steps and disappointments are just a few obstacles that we all experience.

Just like the dolphins we need to be able to jump from the annoyances, even if they are small jumps. There will always be things that try to pull us away from the positive, just as the suckerfish bother the spotted dolphins.

May we focus on the positive aspects in our lives that bring us hope. Reflect on the good things we have in our lives. Recently, I have been focusing on the good instead of the racing thoughts of the negative. May we all gracefully take jumps…small or big through the obstacles, annoyances or discouragement we face.
