Sweet Sounds and Sights of Spring At Robyn’s Nest of Hope

The birds are chattering outside our windows. At times, it sounds more like sqawking. Early in the morning, the birds arise and sing their daily tune. As I am starting my day, I listen to the notes that are sung. Sometimes, it is a serene and calming tune. At other times, the sounds are more piercing.

We have those days when our days are calm and serene. On other days, we go through more abrupt parts just like the birds song when it is more intense. As the spring season approaches, the birds are becoming more active. In our woods, we have woodpeckers, blue jays, cardinals among the variety of birds that call our woods home.

Daffodil in our yard

As I was walking down our driveway recently, I noticed the daffodils starting to sprout. Each spring, for a few weeks the yellow daffodils abound in their brightness. Our front yard is like a field of yellow balloons swaying in the spring breeze. I have always seen pictures of the Netherlands where the tulip fields grow. It is such a beautiful sight to see the variety of colors and the beauty in the photos. When I look at the yellow daffodils in our woods, it reminds me of the annual beauty that reappears each year.

Just like flowers, we bloom through growth. When I started writing, it was a new endeavor, mainly self-taught. As I am growing in my writing pursuits, I have had to grow in my knowledge and know that growth is a process. From where I started in writing to now, I can see growth in this journey. Any time we pursue new things or try to get better at skills, we push through just like a flower starts the blooming process.

A book I have been reading recently is titled Creative Calling by Chase Jarvis. I have always loved to learn and enjoy creative pursuits. In Creative Calling, Chase shares how we can explore creativity whether it be painting, writing or in our daily routines. He also has a podcast that offers insight to creativity and tapping into seeing things differently.

At times, when I am out in our woods I see the flowers have changed since I last observed them. They have had a growth spurt when I was not watching. One of the quotes in Creative Calling says, ” The work you do when no one is watching is the work that matters most.”

As the spring season unfolds, may we listen to the sounds of spring…the birds, the water rippling at the river, the laughter of children outside playing. May we see the beauty in nature…flowers blooming, green grass growing and the blue sky overhead. May we continue to grow and blossom each day in our day to day and in our pursuits.
